Different Stages of Movie Production

There are different stages that are required before movies and TV (television) shows are produced before they are being offered for view at free and subscription-type movies streaming websites. Irrespective of the category of films that will be produced from initial idea to final file that will be projected on a big screen in film cinema or on a streaming website, eventual movie will have gone through the following stages;

1.       Development phase

2.       Pre-production.

3.       Production stage.

4.       Principal photography.

5.       Wrap-up stage.

6.       Post-production stage.

7.       Distribution.

The development stage is the beginning of filmmaking whereby movie is in a form of a script, brief, book or story. Here, the writer or director will be seeing trying to pitch some ideas with the producer.

Pre-production starts immediately after the idea in the script has been understood very clearly. In this stage, the options of filmmaking are pruned or narrowed down. This is the phase that precede where cameras will be set and rolled. Pre-production phase comprises;

a)      Taking note of number of castings that have to be done.

b)      Identifying the shooting venues and locations.

It is at the pre-production stage that producer will employ the service of production or line manager who will be responsible for creating schedule as well as budget for the whole filmmaking project.
